[Tutorial] Pincushion

I was in desperate need of a cute pincushion to replace the ugly one that I had. This project is super simple and just need a few bits of fabric. As you can see in the photo, I transformed the glass jar cap into pincushion.

Here’s what you’ll need:
  • small glass jar (2" in diameter)
  • fabric
  • lace
  • bias tape
  • stuffing (batting or cotton)
  • glue gun
  • scissors
  • needle & thread
  • fabric marker

    Directions:
    1. Carefully remove label from outside of glass jar. Clean & dry it.
    2. Cut a circle out of fabric that is approximately 5" in diameter.
    3. Baste around the circle’s drawn line. (A gathering stitch simply goes in and out of the fabric so that when you pull the thread you create gathers.)
    4. Pull the thread ends to gather but leave an opening in the top. Leave thread on the needle, do not tie off.
    5. Stuff pincushion as firmly as possible. Pull thread taut. Then, tie off end of thread.
    6. Cut out a small circle of fabric. It should be large enough to cover the opening of your cushion. Sew it.
    7. Put the glue and cushion on the cap, hold firmly until glue is set.
    8. Decorate pincushion with lace and bias tape.

    Tadaa!
Simple & cute pincushion is done!
    Enjoy!  ;)
