I was in desperate need of a cute pincushion to replace the ugly one that I had. This project is super simple and just need a few bits of fabric. As you can see in the photo, I transformed the glass jar cap into pincushion.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- small glass jar (2" in diameter)
- fabric
- lace
- bias tape
- stuffing (batting or cotton)
- glue gun
- scissors
- needle & thread
- fabric marker
Directions:
- Carefully remove label from outside of glass jar. Clean & dry it.
- Cut a circle out of fabric that is approximately 5" in diameter.
- Baste around the circle’s drawn line. (A gathering stitch simply goes in and out of the fabric so that when you pull the thread you create gathers.)
- Pull the thread ends to gather but leave an opening in the top. Leave thread on the needle, do not tie off.
- Stuff pincushion as firmly as possible. Pull thread taut. Then, tie off end of thread.
- Cut out a small circle of fabric. It should be large enough to cover the opening of your cushion. Sew it.
- Put the glue and cushion on the cap, hold firmly until glue is set.
- Decorate pincushion with lace and bias tape.
Tadaa!
Simple & cute pincushion is done!
Enjoy! ;)
